Eternal Without You

 

 

You told me that I must forget you,

You told me to find a new love,

You said find someone to love you,

While I am in heaven above.

I tried, how I tried to forget you,

I tried to remove that great pain,

No matter how I tried to forget you,

To forget you, I found was in vain.

 

 

Perhaps you were right my darling,

When you told me to find a new love,

But my heart refused not to love you,

While you are in heaven above,.

I promised my love was eternal,

I didn’t know eternal this way,

I didn’t know eternal without you,

Would mean I’d still love you today.

 

 

I have wished that I’d never met you,

With all the love you had to share,

If my heart had belonged to another,

I wouldn’t have known how to care.

If we had not met, I 'd not miss you,

Your loss wouldn’t hurt me this way,

But I know in my heart my own darling,

It could never be any other way
