Dear Santa

(Genealogy)

 

I want data cd's for Christmas, Santa, please bring them for me, 
I want the cd's for Christmas, to hang on my family tree
I would like the new vital records and a burial index or two,
Perhaps a manorial register, and a will with some evidence new.
Please bring me a brand new computer, with virus repellent built in,
It must have a surname searcher, to search for my families and kin.

A census cd for Christmas, please Santa, do you have one for me?
I need one with so many surnames, those linked to my family tree,
The latest genealogy software, would be an acceptable gift,
Old deeds and newspaper records, would give my old heart such a lift,
Parish records are my special favourite, with origins real old and true,
I want to research a beginning when the Doomsday Book was all new.

I need the new links for Christmas, do knock down a brick wall for me? 
I need the new surnames for Christmas, more roots for my family tree
Bring me a link to the monarchy, show my red blood to flow blue,
If that is too much to ask, then with knight or a gent, I'll make make do! 
An old manuscript and a tenement deed, and perhaps a biography too,
If I get my wishes for Christmas, I'll know Santa Clause, to be true.
