Twisted Words

Quiet not a single word,
An unknown meaning may be heard,
As listener changes words they caught,
To something cruel, unsaid, unthought,
Twisted words of unknown shape,
Hang mid sentence, mouths agape!
You did not think in context heard,
Perhaps they wished to hear bad word.

It never lived although it grew,
To something green and navy blue,
To something cold cruel and sad,
Bantered words, turned gangrenous, bad,
Those quiet whispers, overgrown,
To unsaid words, unheard, unknown,
It isn't worth the hurt you feel,
When words are twisted and unreal.

In your mind, before you speak,
Make certain that no word is weak,
Each sentence, then examine well,
No unthought meaning to cause hell.
No poison words would they then see,
No words of detriment set free.
Quiet not another word,
Leave the rest unknown, unheard.
